Celebrating Earth Day 2023

Celebrating Earth Day 2023

Each year on Earth Day, we like to celebrate the environmental savings our ITAD clients achieve by virtue of our rigorous reuse and e-waste recycling program. Ingram Micro’s ITAD solutions ensure that end-of-use IT assets are responsibly recycled or remarketed to extend the useful life of the device.

Supporting sustainability initiatives is a critical component of Ingram Micro’s environmental mission and we are proud to facilitate environmental stewardship on behalf of the companies we serve. With customers whose operations extend to 80 countries, significant environmental impacts were made around the world.

In 2022 alone, our customers saved the equivalent of:

  • 1,742,136,700 kilowatt-hours of energy
  • 299,783,260 kilograms of greenhouse gas emissions
  • 2,543,280 kilograms of hazardous waste
  • 16,935,930 kilograms of solid waste

Considering that more than 50 million tons of e-waste are generated worldwide each year, of which more than 80% is not properly recycled, even results like these are only a drop in the bucket.

Yes, recycling is good, but reuse is even better. In fact, Ingram Micro supports sustainability by finding a secondary use for over 70% of the notebooks and PCs processed from our clients.

Earth Day is a celebration of supporting the environment and raising awareness of the significant impact environmental care and protection have on the planet. At Ingram Micro, we’re pleased with our recycling results, and even prouder of our ability to identify, refurbish, and remarket those assets that have the potential to enjoy second – and sometimes third – lives.
